Baking is one of my favourite past times – bored? Bake, Sad? Bake, Birthday? Bake. The other day it was my boyfriends birthday so I asked him what flavour cake he wanted, he said Lemon – so I made him a triple layer lemon curd cake with digestive biscuits running through the buttercream. It turned out just as I had hoped and went down a treat with him and his family.

Top 5 Tuesday | Great British Bake Off Favourites

I’m a self-diagnosed Great British Bake off obsessive. During the autumn months my life revolves around Bake Off. My schedule revolves around Bake Off and I get all the British feelings when I sit down to watch.

Firstly,

before I get into my favourites from this season including bakes, people and challenges, I just need to resolve the elephant in the room – the new format. Now this may or may not spark argument, but I genuinely do not have any negative feelings towards the new format – yes, I prefer BBC and Mary Berry but Channel 4 and Prue hasn’t made the show any less watchable; you still have an amazingly talented judge and funny hosts. For me, I’m just glad that the tent, the challenges and Paul are all still exactly the same. The adverts just allow me to go and get more cake and regain my breath.

What would Mary Berry say?

To bake or not to bake?

There is nothing more christmassy to me, than baking. I am a huge fan of all things sweet and making them myself gives me such pleasure. I worked christmas day this year (i know, how unfestive of me) but i decided as a present to my fellow colleagues that i would bake everyone festive treats to keep the mood up.

I decided to make mince pies (shocker!), gingerbread iced biscuits and chocolate and ginger muffins. All of the recipes i found on the BBC Good Food website, which is a lifesaver when the only cook books you own are from the war!
